CRM COVID-19 UPDATE

At The Ronald O. Perelman and Claudia Cohen Center for Reproductive Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine, our highest priority is the health and safety of our patients and staff.

We are actively monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic extremely closely and taking all actions necessary to reduce the spread of this virus and to keep our patients, staff, and their families healthy and safe. This is a fluid and rapidly evolving situation. We will continue to make thoughtful decisions at the Center incorporating recommendations and guidelines from key organizations, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), as well as all relevant governmental agencies.

At this time, we have taken several measures to ensure the safety of all our patients and staff:

  • All NewYork-Presbyterian hospitals will remain open, and urgent and emergent care of patients, including surgeries, procedures and evaluations, will continue. All elective procedures and surgeries have been postponed at NewYork-Presbyterian hospitals until further notice
  • We are modifying appointments, including conducting new patient consultations and follow-up visits via phone or video conference when possible, as well as postponing all non-urgent diagnostic procedures, including saline infusion sonograms, hysterosalpingograms, and semen analyses
  • Monitoring of patients in active treatment cycles and obstetric ultrasounds will continue to take place in person
  • We are temporarily suspending all new treatment cycles, including ovulation induction (clomiphene citrate, letrozole or injectable medications), intrauterine inseminations (IUIs), in vitro fertilization (IVF) including egg retrievals, fresh and frozen embryo transfers, as well as non-emergent egg and embryo freezing
  • We are requesting to the extent that it is possible please do not bring anyone with you to our waiting rooms or exam rooms who are not necessary for treatment
  • We have implemented strict screening measures, including temperature screening, for all patients and staff in our offices. Anyone with a risk factor (potential or known exposure to COVID-19 or travel to a high-risk area) or fever, cough, or sore throat are asked NOT to come to the office, call your primary care physician and notify us immediately
  • As always, we continue to adhere to strict hand hygiene and disinfection protocols in all our offices and laboratories

On a deeply personal level, we are aware that the COVID-19 pandemic may have significant impact on the emotional well-being of our patients. We know that the cancellation and/or postponement of treatment, as well as the limited data on the impact of COVID-19 on pregnancy, may result in understandable anxiety. Your health and well-being, as well as your family building goals, are our utmost priority. Our entire team of physicians, mental health professionals, and staff remain available to support you in any way possible. We will provide updates as this situation evolves, but no later than April 2nd, 2020. Our goal is to continue your treatment together as soon as is safely possible. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to your physician’s office or call our main center number (646-962-2764).
